San Mateo Death Race
I apologize for the Crappy filming and Holy Shits.
After a week long rain storm and no waves my friend and I started to lose our minds . Riley Mudia, Chase Stavron, Monte Livingston and I figured what could be more fun that ride the mellow San Mateo river a few miles down stream right into the line up at uppers. Little did we know that this mellow river was Raging with hundreds of deadly traps along the way.
With two of us on each one man kayak we hand no control what so ever. For the whole trip down we were in survival mode running over huge trees getting stabbed constantly by bigger trees above the water. for the first time in a while I feared for my life. When we flip over there are hidden trees under the water everywhere just waiting to suck one of you limbs in and drown you to death. At the very end which isn't on film all the forks in the river come to a giant water fall. We tried to pull it off but failed miserly. We flip and got stuck getting rolled in circle unable to escape. Finally it spit us out to finish our journey out into the ocean where the river met with some pretty heavy storm surf. Fail!! It took us almost a half hour just to get the kayak out of the water. The beauty of this river is that it make lowers and upper better every year it breaks out witch has only happens twice in the last fifteen years. It dumps tons of rocks and sand which replenishes the points. This may have been one of the stupidest thinks I have ever done but I will remember this day for as long as a live.
